The Milford girls’ track team finished in the third spot at the Malcolm Invitational April 7.

Mariah Richards was one of the team’s top performers, Coach Marty Hingst said.

“She was so made after the last meet, she threw about a foot further” in the shot put, he said. “Good for her.”

Richards won the event with a toss of 32-2.

Sydney Stelling sprinted to the win in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.3 seconds and finished third in the 200-meter dash and fourth in the long jump.

Caitlyn Adams took the top spot in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:04.67.

“It was a windy day, and she’s a strong runner. She just puts her head down and finishes,” Hingst said.

Abbie McGuire won the 3,200-meter run in 13:04.05 and was second in the 1,600-meter run.

Freshman Sarah Spahr topped the competition in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5-0 to win. It was her first win, Hingst said.

The weight relay of Abbie Houk, Addy Mowinkel, Richards and Camille Stauffer won its race, as well.

The 4x800-meter relay team of Kaitlyn Kontor, Ashlynn Zegers, Alayna Piening and Adams finished second.

Hingst was pleased to see Jayden Bell finish fourth in the pole vault, the first time the Eagles have scored in the girls’ pole vault this season.

The 4x100-meter relay team raced to fifth.

Makenna Stutzman picked up fifth place in the 200 and sixth in the 100. Kaitlyn Kontor placed sixth in the 1,600, and Hannah Schilz was sixth in both the 100- and 300-meter hurdles.

Stauffer placed fourth in the discus, and Marissa Walker jumped to fifth in the high jump.

Piening earned sixth in the triple jump, with Abigale Svik tying for sixth in the pole vault.

In the boys’ competition, Collin Piening won both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles in 16.24 and 43.65 seconds, respectively.

The weight relay of Nick Beel, Rollin Roth, Omarian Weaver and Isaac Voboril won gold.

“They were pretty pumped up,” Hingst said.

Maddox Baack picked up second place in the 800-meter run.

Ayden Shook raced to third in the 100-meter dash. The 4x800-meter relay team of Baack, Hudson Mullet, Elliott Reitz and Roth picked up third, as did Beel in the discus. Roth joined the relay in place of Carter Roth who is out with a sprained ankle.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Piening, Caden Nelson, Jeremiah Taylor and Shook placed fourth. Nelson was filling in for Dane Kolb who is battling a hamstring issue, Hingst said.

Trace Rowland won medals in the long jump (fifth) and pole vault (sixth). Mullet also won a sixth-place medal in the 1,600-meter run.

Voboril surpassed 41 feet in the shot put to finish sixth. Nelson also sprinted to sixth in the 200-meter dash.

Reitz brought home a sixth-place finish in the 3,200-meter run and improved his time by 10 seconds, Hingst said.

The Eagles finished fourth in the team standings and scored their most points of the season, Hingst said.

“Everyone had good things happen,” he said.

The Eagles will host their invitational April 13, with field events starting at 2 p.m.

The next meet is at Centennial Tuesday, April 20, starting at 2 p.m.
