Douglas William Frankum, 77, passed away Oct. 22, 2019, at Bryan Health in Lincoln. He was the husband of Dianne Frankum (Hall) with whom he shared 37 years of marriage.  

Douglas was born in Wells, Minnesota, to Arthur Frankum and Mary Frankum (Keuchenmeister). He was the third of 10 children. His family moved to California in 1953. He graduated high school from Pleasant Hill High School in 1960. He then entered the Air Force, where he worked as a military policeman until 1963 when he was honorably discharged. He then joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers as a journeyman electrician. He left California and moved to Seward in 1977. He retired from Seward Public Schools in 2004. He enjoyed fishing, billiards, traveling and horse racing. Doug was a member of the Dwight American Legion Post 110.

He is survived by wife, Dianne; daughter, Dana; siblings, Thomas (Janice) Frankum, John Frankum and Daniel (Kris) Frankum, Judy (Tom) Weiks and Joyce Komes; brothers-in-law and their spouses, Ben Hall, Erwin “Kit” (Gloria) Hall, Andy (Debbie) Hall and Timothy (Linda) Hall; sister-in-law, Laurie (Doug) Kent; as well as many nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; step-father, Bill Rand; brothers, Larry, David, Greg and Timothy; as well as father and mother-in-law, Erwin “Butch” and Eleanor Hall.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019, at the Seward VFW Club, 243 S. Ninth Street in Seward. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.zabkafuneralhome.com.
