Doris Darleen (Gade) Suellwold Ahrens, of Seward, was born Feb. 5, 1927, to Albert and Helene (Luebbe) Gade in Superior.
She graduated from Seward High School in 1944. On May 15, 1947, Doris was united in marriage to Floyd Suellwold in Seward. Following Floyd’s death, Doris married Elwin “Al” Ahrens on Dec. 20, 1997, in Seward. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Seward County Independent, a teacher’s aide for the Seward School District and a night manager at Seward Dairy Queen. She was also a homemaker. Doris was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Seward, L.W.L., V.F.W. Auxiliary of Seward and American Legion Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed spending time visiting with family and friends. Doris passed away July 14, 2021, in Seward, at the age of 94 years, 5 months and 9 days.
She is survived by her children, F. Gregory “Gregor” Suellwold, Seward, Shelley Suellwold, Lincoln, Kyle (T.J.) Hinkel, Utica; grandchildren, Matt (Jessie) Hinkel, Nikki (Jeris) Rue, Jennifer (Kaden) Albin, Jasen Hinkel; great-grandchildren, Micah Hinkel, Livia Hinkel, Kaylee Rue, Sawyer Rue, Anabell Albin, Abel Albin; sister, Lorna Graff, Seward; brother, Dean Gade, Seward. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Helene Gade; husbands, Floyd Suellwold and Al Ahrens; son, Todd Suellwold; stepmother, Gertrude Gade.
The funeral service was July 20 at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward with interment at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Garland. Memorial contributions are suggested to Lutheran Hour Ministries. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.volzkefuneralhome.com.
