On Feb. 26, 2023, Donald “Don” Wayne Miller was united in heaven with his late wife Ginny.

Born to Richard and Shirley (Roth) Miller on March 4, 1955, in Friend, Don was the third of eight children. He grew up on a farm west of Milford and graduated from Milford Public Schools in 1974. On Feb. 6, 1976, Don married Virginia (Ginny) Kay Zimmerman at Fairview Mennonite Church in Milford. To this union, four boys, Jeremy, Justin, Jathan, and Jared, were born. After graduating, Don farmed with his father and brother until 1984, when he moved his family to Albany, Oregon. In 1996, after 12 years in Oregon, they moved back to Milford.

Don had a love for remodeling his home, often remodeling things that he had just previously fixed. He once said, “I should put my walls on wheels.” His father, Richard, often helped with electrical work and the grandkids were the grunts. Some of the grandchildren are extremely handy today with the teachings and experience they received from Grandpa over the years. During his later years, Don worked and made new friends at Casey’s in Milford and at Concordia University in Seward, until his cancer made it too difficult.

Don is survived by his sons, Jeremy (Kimberly) of Seward, Justin (Tela) of Milford, Jathan of Seward, and Jared (Stephanie) of Milford; grandchildren, Brenden, Aubreanna, Khail, Levi, Jamison, Korbyn, Sabrina, Makenzy, Derek, Braden, Aven, and Zander; brothers, John (Victoria) Miller of Salem, Oregon, Verlin (Ann) Miller of Milford, and Daryl (Janel) Miller of Albany, Oregon; sisters, Mary (Robert) Ake of Salem, Oregon, Sherryl (Randy) McDaniel of Albany, Oregon, Arla (Marty) Roth of Dorchester, and Rachel (Jim) Garza of LaVista; brother-in-law, Doug (Judy) Zimmerman of Seward; sister-in-law, Patty Deeble of Seward; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Don is preceded in death by his wife, Ginny (Zimmerman) Miller (2017); mother, Shirley (Roth) Miller (2010); father, Richard Miller (2019); mother-in-law, Geraldine (Schlueter) Zimmerman (1993); father-in-law, Jake Zimmerman Jr. (2009); infant sister-in-law, Connie Lou Zimmerman; and grandparents, Amon and Lydia Miller and Chris and Mary Roth. Don will be laid to rest awaiting the return of Jesus beside his wife of 41 years

Visitation is Friday, March 3, from 1 – 8 p.m. with family greeting and receiving friends and relatives from 6 – 8 p.m. at Lauber Funeral Home in Milford.
