Dixie Helen Giebelman was born March 24, 1938, near Utica, the daughter of Herbert F. and Phoebe (Markel) Eppenbaugh and passed away Oct. 16, 2020, in Lincoln, at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 22 days.

Dixie was raised on a farm outside of Utica where she attended country school and helped her parents on the farm. Horses were one of Dixie’s favorite animals on the farm, which she rode all over the country. She would later attend Utica High School where she was active in volleyball, track, cheerleading and was the prom queen. She graduated with the Class of 1955. While attending high school, she started dating the love of her life, John Giebelman.

One Nov. 20, 1955, the couple was united in marriage in Utica and to this union, four children were born. The couple lived and worked in Utica, Crete, Seward and Norfolk. It was in Norfolk that they owned the Giebelman Service Station for many years. They were always on the move, either at a rodeo, dance or camping. Dixie enjoyed listening to country music, exercising, watching television, sitting outside and socializing with friends. She loved her family and spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, John, in 2019.

Dixie is survived by her four children, Roxanne Giebelman, Lincoln, Brenda Cool and husband Don, Brigham City, Utah, John “Tim” Giebelman, Lincoln, and Wesley Giebelman and wife Julie, Evansdale, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, ReGina, Tamara, Johnnie, Tyson, Hattie, Matt, Anthony, Dustin, Ryan and Nikki; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 1 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at Zabka-Perdue Funeral Home in Seward with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. A funeral service is at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in the Utica cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Giebelman family for future designation.
