Cornelius “Cornie” A. Sheehan

Cornelius “Cornie” Anthony Sheehan, of Seward, was born June 24, 1933, to Edward and Mary Sheehan in Lincoln.

He attended Seward High School, graduating in 1951. He served in the United States Army from July 31, 1953, through June 10, 1955, during the Korean Conflict. On April 6, 1956, Cornie was united in marriage to Donna Junge in Thayer. He owned and operated Hydraulic Equipment Service, Inc. Cornie helped start the Seward Ducks Unlimited Chapter and he served on the 4-H Extension Board. In his free time, he enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening. Cornie loved camping and hunting. He especially loved his pets. On Fridays, he enjoyed going to Lou and Mary Ann’s for fish. He and Donna loved having people to their house and always hosted everyone on the 4th of July. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and Seward American Legion Post #33. Cornie passed away Jan. 22, 2023, in Seward, at the age of 89 years, 6 months and 29 days.

He is survived by his children, Patricia (Robert) Herron of Utica and Michael (Lori) Sheehan of Seward; special niece, Michelle (Jeff) Gibbens, Comstock; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Larkin; father and stepmother, Edward and Jessie Sheehan; wife, Donna Sheehan; and son, Tim Sheehan.

Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, at Volzke Funeral Home in Seward with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward with committal at the Seward Cemetery.
