Charlotte Margaret Besse, of Seward, was born March 29, 1929, to Ehler and Zenna (Wyatt) Rhoades in Norfolk.
She attended North East High School, graduating in 1946. On Nov. 7, 1947, Charlotte was united in marriage to Richard Besse at Grace Methodist Church in Lincoln. Charlotte belonged to many organizations during her lifetime, including, Theta Rho, Alpha Pi Omega, Country Women’s Club, Seward Junior Women’s Club, Seward Rainbow Assembly, Seward Country Club and United Methodist Women. She was also honored as a Past Worthy Matron of Seward Chapter #156 O.E.S, Rainbow Mom, Grand Cross of Color from Rainbow, Past Queen of Naphis Temple #66, Daughters of the Nile and a 50+ year member of the Methodist Church. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, puzzles and needlepoint. She especially enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren. Charlotte passed away on April 20, 2021, in Seward, at the age of 92 years and 22 days.
She is survived by her children, Richard (Deb) Besse, Columbia, Missouri, David (Cid) Besse, Goehner, Peggy (Jim) Bogus, Scottsbluff, Jack (Renee) Besse, Kearney; grandchildren, Brock Besse, Corrie Besse, Brittany (Rob) Wahr, Audrey Besse, Ray Besse III, Logan (Craig) Payne, Cassidy Besse, Bridget Besse, Tori Bogus; great-grandchildren, Paxton Ford, Tenley Payne, Kennedy Wahr; brother, Joseph Richard Rhoades; brother-in-law, Lloyd Schulz. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Ehler and Zenna Rhoades; husband, Richard Besse; sister, Caryl Schulz; brothers, Harold Rhoades, Loy Reed Rhoades; great-granddaughter, Kinsley Wahr.
A funeral service was April 24 at Seward United Methodist Church with interment at the Seward Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested in care of the Besse family. Condolences may be left for the family at /www.volzkefuneralhome.com.
