BVCA readies for move to The Rock

Blue Valley Community Action is moving. The business, currently located on the square, is moving to The Rock Lutheran Church on 237 S. 3rd St.

Blue Valley has been helping low-income individuals and families find the services and things they need to make ends meet and improve their lives for 55 years.

Ryan Bailey, Family and Community Services Director of Blue Valley Community Action, said business expansion is the main reason for the location change.

“We’ve been renting the current building from Café on the Square, and now they are getting ready to expand into our location,” Bailey said. “They have been extremely generous and kind about the whole situation. They have also been very patient with us as we get ready to make our move.”

While Blue Valley was searching for a new home, a local church made them an offer.

“The Rock Lutheran Church here in Seward called us and said that they had been looking to add on services like ours to the church,” Bailey said. “It just seemed like a perfect fit. Almost too good to be true.”

Bailey said the new location will offer the same services as the old.

“The only new thing that the new location will bring is a larger parking lot,” Bailey said. “It will be good to have more parking for our customers. Other than that, everything is going to be the same.”

Although Blue Valley will be moving locations, they will still be open at their current location until the move.

“We’re hoping to get everything moved out of here by the end of August,” Bailey said. “We then hope to open up our new location at the start of September.”

Anyone interested in donating, volunteering or checking out Blue Valley Community Action can call the store at (402) 643-6425 or stop in and ask for more information.

“We’d love to have people come in and check out our store front,” Bailey said. “We can always use new supplies and volunteers.”
