Broncos win dual wrestling tournament

Centennial’s wrestling team won the Freeman Dual meet Dec. 3 and finished fifth in the Friend Invitational Dec. 5.

The Broncos beat Tri County 33-30, HTRS 37-36, Palmyra 51-6, Freeman 42-30 and Wilber-Clatonia 43-42.

Four Broncos were 5-0 on the day – Garrison Schernikau (three pins), Keenan Kosek (two pins), Ryan Payne (four pins) and Carson Fehlhafer (three pins). Tyson Rodewald and Samuel Payne were 4-1.

At Friend, the Broncos finished with four in the top four at their weights.

Ryan Payne and Fehlhafer each finished second. Payne was 2-1 with a pin and lost in the final to Eli Vondra of Milford.

Fehlhafer was 2-1 with two pins and lost in the final to Connor Asche of Fillmore Central.

Schernikau finished third, and Rodewald was fourth.

The Broncos are scheduled to wrestle in the county triangular at Seward Thursday, Dec. 10, starting at 6 p.m. CHS will wrestle Milford first, then Seward.
