At Centennial Elementary, we have amazing school pride. One of the fun things we do to show our school pride is have our Friday Spirit Rallies.

All 200 elementary students gather in our big gym by class and at 8:05, the craziness begins. Our student-led Spirit Rally committee plans games for the school and includes students from all grade levels. We play minute-to-win-it games, relays, group dance songs, but our favorite is probably the limbo. We invite high school sports teams, activities and homecoming candidates to join us sometimes with our fun games. Sometimes we get a treat and the high school band, conducted by Mr. Harris will come perform for us. Friday spirit rallies are all about building community within our PK-12 building as well as cultivating a deep sense of school spirit and pride.

When we are all done with our games, we have a tradition of singing our fight song. We were able to find the lyrics of the Centennial fight song Onward Broncos, sung to the tune of On Wisconsin. Students learn the fight song when they are in Kindergarten and all students sing it loud and proud. Once we have finished the song, we have another tradition to deepen our school pride. All of the adults and students get low on the floor and we get as quiet as we can and start our Bronco Pride cheer. We start off quiet and as we rise from the floor, get louder and louder until we cannot yell “Bronco Pride” any louder. It gets pretty loud in the gym when all 200 of our elementary students are cheering together.

Lastly, we finish our time with the Pledge of Allegiance and dismiss the students to their classes. Friday Spirit Rallies are an integral part of our school culture and student life at Centennial.
