Bash exceeds goal

The Bluejay Booster Club held its first-ever Bluejay Bash Nov. 30 at the Ag Pavilion. The group, which received help from Friends of Choral Music and the Seward Band Boosters, held the event to raise money for an activity bus, which will be similar to a charter bus, for Seward High School. The school district agreed to purchase the charter-style bus if the boosters raised $50,000. On Dec. 3, Brady Johnson, the Bluejay Boosters president, said the organization raised over $70,000 with the event. “It exceeded all our expectations,” Johnson said. Now, Johnson said the boosters are planning for next year and will work with the school administration to learn the district’s needs for the boosters’ next project. Seward School District Superintendent Dr. Josh Fields said in an email the district will look toward purchasing its bus in the second semester. “I continue to be amazed at the support from the community within the Seward School District. Through the generosity of the people who gave their time, talents and gifts, the first annual Bluejay Bash was a huge success!”
