Arlene Lois (Beckmann) Seevers was born March 31, 1932, to George and Frieda (Hillmann) Beckmann in their farm house south of Seward.

The second of three children, Arlene received the blessing of Holy Baptism on April 17, 1932, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ruby, and confirmed her faith in the Triune God at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward on April 14, 1946.

Arlene began her education at St. John South School, located just 200 yards north of her family’s farm. She finished grade school at St. John in Seward and graduated from Seward High School in 1950.

On June 28, 1953, Arlene married John J. Seevers at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. She remained steadfast in faith as, over the next decade, John’s vocation in Lutheran education led them to Detroit, Michigan, Fairview Park, Ohio, and Racine, Wisconsin. She returned to Seward and St. John Lutheran Church in 1963, where she remained an active volunteer for 60 years. Arlene loved her church and the people in it, serving many years as a funeral luncheon coordinator.

Arlene found great joy in gardening, baking, bridge and pitch games with dear friends and family, Concordia athletics and anything involving her children and grandchildren. She found her purpose in service to others in her community, especially at St. John Lutheran Church and School, Concordia University and within her family. Most importantly, she found her hope and identity in Jesus Christ.

On May 3, 2022, with characteristic grace and courage, Arlene passed peacefully into the waiting arms of her Savior. God blessed her with more than 90 years of life.

Arlene is survived by her husband of nearly 69 years, John J. Seevers; her siblings, Vernon Beckmann of Columbus, and Marge Meyer, of Plymouth, Wisconsin; also by her three sons and 11 grandchildren: son, John K. (Karen) Seevers, Seward, and their sons, Benjamin (Lydia), and Shawn (Samantha) Seevers, parents to Arlene’s two great-grandchildren, Maverick and Sterling; son, Mark (Sarah) Seevers, Fairlawn, Ohio, and their two children, Madalyn (fiancé Austin Knudsen) and Samuel Seevers; and son, Scott (Danna) Seevers, Seward, parents of Gracelyn, Gemma, Luke, Marshall and Nyla Seevers. Her legacy includes several grandchildren, representing the seventh generation of her family raised in Seward County.

A Celebration of Life was May 10 at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward with committal in the Greenwood Cemetery. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.volzkefuneralhome.com.
