Joseph Donald Soukup was born Nov. 4, 1943, to Joseph Francis Soukup and Lillian Agnes (Sisel) Soukup. Joe passed away Aug. 16, 2020, on his family farm near Dwight, which is also the farm he was born on. Joe was 76 years, 9 months and 12 days young. He attended Assumption Catholic School and later graduated from East Butler High School with the Class of 1962. On May 11, 1968, Joe was united in marriage to Mary Ann Bejvancesky at Assumption Catholic Church in Dwight and was blessed with six children.

Joe was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He began his love for farming at the young age of 14 when his father first sat him on a tractor. He continued to farm until he retired in 1997. Along with farming, Joe worked at Hughes Brothers, Inc. from 1968 until he retired in 2006, just short of 38 years. He was a lifelong member of Assumption Catholic Church. Joe joined the National Guard in 1964 where he served six years. He was a member of the Dwight American Legion Post 110. He was a handyman and could fix anything and everything that he put his mind to, always had an easier solution to any problem. Joe enjoyed working with metal and wood and giving his creations to his children. He had a green thumb when it came to gardening, it was something Joe and Mary enjoyed doing together, along with canning.
