Ella Emma Caroline Krueger was born June 9, 1927, at the family home in Garland to Ernest and Hulda (Schulz) Tiemann and passed away Aug. 23, 2018, in Seward at the age of 91 years, 2 months and 14 days.

Ella was baptized July 3, 1927, at the family home in Garland and confirmed on April 6, 1941, at Zion Lutheran Church in Garland. She attended school and graduated as the valedictorian and salutatorian with the class of 1945. After high school, Ella worked at Blomstroms Café for a couple of years.

On Aug. 22, 1948, Ella was united in marriage to Earl Roebke at Zion Lutheran Church in Garland, and to this union two daughters were born, Bonnie and Beverly. It was during this time that Ella worked at the egg plant as well as Rolfsmeier Dairy making ice cream. She also worked as a waitress at Dale’s Steak House and the Seward Country Club. She later became a nurse’s aide at the Seward Hospital. Earl passed away in 1972.

On March 9, 1974, Ella married Leroy Krueger at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. The couple made their home in Lincoln where Ella worked at Four Star Drug for many years. Ella loved collecting Precious Moments, Charles Dickens Villages and especially jewelry. She loved baking and cooking for anyone who came to their house. Ella really enjoyed making her special cinnamon rolls and spending time with her family. Playing Pitch with her cousins was also special to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Earl Roebke (1972) and Leroy Krueger (2001); daughter, Beverly Erks (2013) and great-grandson, Michael Dean (1997). 

Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie Fritz and husband Dean of Seward; son-in-law, Ron Erks of Utica; grandchildren and their spouses, Lisa and Charlie, Chad and Sheri, Jason and Trista and Jamie and Lucas; six great-grandchildren; and brother, Orville and wife Opal Tiemann.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018, at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward, with the Rev. Scott Bruick officiating. A graveside service will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Dean Fritz, Ron Erks, Chad Fritz, Jason Fritz, Lucas Simonsen and Charlie Cook. Honorary casketbearers will be Trevor Cook, Tristen Cook, Brecken Fritz, Sophie Simonsen, Brianne Simonsen and Wyatt Simonsen.
