Ardith Marie Roebke was born Nov. 11, 1934, in Seward to Henry and Amanda (Ahrens) Vollstedt and passed away Feb. 5, 2018, in Seward at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 25 days. She grew up on the family farm one mile north of Garland. Ardith was baptized Dec. 2, 1934, and later confirmed on March 21, 1948, both at Zion Lutheran Church in Garland. She attended and graduated from Garland High School with the class of 1952. After high school she had various jobs in Lincoln before beginning at Banker’s Life, where she worked for 10 years.

On Aug. 22, 1965, she was united in marriage to Norman William Roebke at Zion Lutheran Church in Garland. She was a homemaker and mother to their three children and also farmed right beside Norman. Ardith was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was active in the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed being part of the Blue Valley Quilters Guild and the doll club. After Norman passed away she volunteered at Et-Cetera. Ardith loved her family, grandchildren and the farm. She also enjoyed going to auctions, as well as antique and quilt shows. 

Ardith was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman on June 6, 2003; brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Lois Vollstedt; sister and brother-in-law, Viola and Melvin Schildt; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nora and Rudolph Schroeder; sister-in-law, Gladys Roebke; and brother-in-law, Marvin Nelson. 

Ardith is survived by her three children, Kathie Klein and husband, Norman, of Bee, Marlene Rieck and husband, Mike, of Eagle River, Wisconsin, and Galen Roebke and wife, Julie, of Seward; six grandchildren, Samuel Klein and wife, Stacey, Sarah Klein, Steven Rieck, Amanda Rieck, Hannah Roebke and Nathan Roebke; three great-granddaughters, Bailey Mooney, Alexis Klein and Kourtney Klein; and sister-in-law, Darlene Nelson.

A funeral service was held Feb. 12, 2018, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Garland, with the Rev. Louis E. Griser officiating. Burial followed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.
