During the Seward County Commissioners’ Feb. 13 meeting, the board:

• granted a request from the Seward Fourth of July Committee to use the courthouse lawn for the craft show during the town’s annual celebration.

• authorized the chairperson to sign the subgrant agreement for child support enforcement services for the Seward County attorney’s office.

• approved an amendment for the membership of the county’s personnel board. The board previously had a commissioner representative, a layperson appointed by the commissioner, an elected official representative, a layperson appointed by the elected official, two employees—one from the roads department and one not in that department—and an elected official representative.

The previous personnel board also could not contain more than one person from a department.

The amendment changed the number of employees on the personnel board. Now, the board will have three employee members, categorized by emergency services, roads department and administrative staff, like those who do office work.

Additionally, the amendment now allows no more than two county employees from one department to serve on the board.

• Opened bids for a 2019 dump truck.

• authorized the chairperson to sign a rental agreement with Plains Equipment Group for a John Deere tractor for the cost of $15/hour for 300 hours.

• authorized the chairperson to sign a surplus property request from the road department for a copier that no longer works.
