Milford athletes saw marks improve at Centennial April 16. The Eagles finished third in the girls’ team standings and sixth in the boys’ competition.

All three high jumpers earned medals. Chloe Kolb won the event at 5-0. Elizabeth Ross was fourth and Marissa Walker fifth.

“It was a nice day for them,” Coach Marty Hingst said.

The 4x800-meter relay team was second with team members Callie Carraher, Celia Bontrager, Abbie McGuire and Caitlyn Adams.

Sydney Bontrager picked up second in both the shot put and discus. Hingst said she improved her distance by a couple feet in the shot put at 34-8.

Ashley Kroese and McGuire both ran personal best times in the 1,600-meter run where they finished third and fourth, respectively. Kroese also finished third in the 3,200-meter run, and Naudia Larsen was third in the 300-meter hurdles.

The 4x100- and 4x400-meter relay teams were also third.

Logan Horsley led the boys’ team with a second-place finish in the high jump, clearing 6-0.

The 4x800-meter relay team of Zach Pauley, Maddox Baack, Jake Patton and Carter Springer finished third behind Malcolm and Centennial. Springer passed two or three competitors on the final lap to put the Eagles into third, Hingst said.

Up next for the Eagles is the Southern Nebraska Conference meet Saturday, April 27, in Milford. Field events start at 10 a.m.
