Friend hosted its home invitational April 16 and finished fourth in the girls’ team standings.
Senior Emma Niemeier brought home three golds and a fifth-place finish. She won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.4 seconds, the 300-meter hurdles in 49.2 seconds and the triple jump at 34-4. She placed fifth in the long jump.
Danielle Klenke continued to run well in the 400-meter dash, placing second in 1:02.5. Mikayla Hausman finished second in the 800-meter run in 2:40.7, as well.
For Dorchester, Jacee Zoubek led the way with third in the 100-meter dash in 13.3 seconds and the 400-meter dash in 1:04.3 and fourth in the 200-meter dash.
Lena Zahourek was third in the 100-meter hurdles.
In the boys’ competition, Christian Weber vaulted 9-6 to place second for FHS. Parker Lofing added fourth-place finishes in the 800-meter and 1,600-meter runs.
Cole Lisec of Dorchester won the team’s only medal, placing sixth in the 1,600-meter run.
Up next for Friend was the McCool Junction Invitational April 23 and the Pioneer Conference meet Saturday, April 27, at Pawnee City. Events are set to start at 9 a.m.
