Exeter-Milligan/Friend pulled away in the second half to beat Lourdes 48-12 Sept. 7 in week three of the football season.
“We had our moments,” Coach Dean Filipi said. “We played well enough.”
Spencer Pribyl had a big night a quarterback, completing eight of 13 attempts for 89 yards and two touchdowns and running for three more scores.
Filipi said the Bobcats still need to improve their blocking.
“That probably the biggest thing,” he said. “We just didn’t do some things the way we should to make the game easier for us.”
Both teams subbed early in the second half, which gave the junior varsity players more opportunities to gain experience.
“We try to give them some Friday night time when we can. It’s more fun for them,” Filipi said.
Mitchell Manning led the Bobcats with 119 yards on 18 carries. Edwen Baptista added 96 on 14 attempts. On defense, Max Zeleny led the way with six solo tackles and five assists. Manning added six solo stops, and Slater Wells recorded five solo tackles and four assists.
Up next for EMF (3-0) is a trip to Thayer Central Friday, Sept. 14. Thayer Central is a new team on the schedule, Filipi said.
“We have a lot of work to do,” he said.
