Kaylin Scherling plays in the bouncy house at the Friend Country Club as part of the kids events on July 4, 2018, in Friend. Friend will hold its celebration again this year, beginning with a parade at 10 a.m.

The Fourth of July celebration in Friend will be here in the blink of an eye.

Since January, the Friend Community Club has been planning for the event.

The day-long celebration begins with a parade downtown at 10 a.m., followed by a co-ed softball tournament in the city park.

The Friend Lifetime Resident and Citizen of the Year awards will be presented during the event.

“We are bringing back the Lil’ Tuggers tractor pull,” Ann Bruntz of the community club said.

The tractor pull begins for ages 4-11 in Burley Park, following the parade.

There will also be a car show and volleyball tournament.

The Friend Rotary Club will host tacos in the park all day, and the American Legion will provide sloppy joes.

Kids activities for the day include free swimming from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Friend pool, a fishing tournament and other activities on the lawn of the Friend Country Club.
