Since opening KBK Creative Designs in downtown Friend June 3, Blue Kapperman’s phone has not stopped ringing.

“My husband told me the other night, ‘You need to tell your friends when to go to bed,’” Kapperman said.

Kapperman and her husband, Kurt, moved to Dorchester earlier this year and opened their screen printing and embroidery shop last month.

“Friend is really friendly and it’s really busy on the main street,” Kapperman said. “Everyone’s been super supportive so far.”

Although originally from Fairmont, she had previously run a shop in Arapahoe before her husband’s career shift at the Furnas County Sheriff’s Department this year, resulting in their move.

So far, Kapperman said she has done orders for both inside and around the Friend area, including Meridian FFA jackets and T-shirts for Rural Medicine Health Clinic. She hopes to get involved with area schools, once classes begin again.

Unlike other retailers, Kapperman does not charge for set up (screening) fees or for personalized artwork. She only charges for shipping and cost of the items.

KBK (Kurt Blue Kapperman) Creative Designs, is located at 113 Maple Street in Friend. The hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Fridays.

For more information or a look at past designs, visit their Facebook page @KBKCreativeDesigns or call (308) 655-0470.
