Veterans bricks

40 engraved bricks were added to the Crete Veteran's Monument in City Park.

On May 14, 40 new engraved bricks were added to the Veteran Recognition Monument in City Park in Crete. Each brick honors a current or past reserve or active duty member in any branch of the military with any affiliation with Crete, City Administrator Tom Ourada said.

The first engraved bricks were placed in the monument in February, according to Crete’s Parks and Recreation website.

Each brick is engraved with the veteran’s name, branch of service and dates and war or conflict in which he or she served.

This project was started last fall with two oversized wooden easels with concrete frames made and blank bricks filling them. It is located in the northwest corner of the City Park next to the Sherman tank.

Engraved bricks may be ordered on Crete’s website, www.crete.ne.gov, or in the City Hall Utility office.
