A car accident on July 10 in Crete claimed the life of two Milligan residents and left one Omaha man in critical condition.

On July 10 at 2:59 p.m., a head-on collision in Crete claimed the lives of two people and critically injured another.

Clarence Patzloff, age 57, and Janice Silva, age 85, of Milligan died in the accident on Highway 33.

Their 2002 Oldsmobile Alero was westbound entering Crete, crossed into a turning lane and continued into the eastbound lane.

The car hit a 2018 Ford F150 pickup driven by Kevin Schwartzer, age 55, of Omaha, head-on.

Schwartzer was life-flighted to Lincoln and is in critical condition.

“We don’t know why their car veered into the oncoming lane,” Crete Police Chief Steve Hensel said.

The accident continues to be investigated by the Crete Police Department and Nebraska State Patrol.

Autopsies have been scheduled.
