Two hundred pounds of methamphetamine with a street value of $7.2 million was found April 25 in a traffic stop on Interstate 80 near Milford.
The Seward County Sheriff's Office said it believes this could be the largest meth bust in Nebraska.
A deputy with the Seward County Interdiction Task
Force initiated a traffic stop on a Toyota Highlander for a violation of the Nebraska Rules of the Road near mile marker 382 eastbound.
During the traffic stop, the deputy became increasingly suspicious that the driver and sole occupant was involved in
criminal activity.
A K9 was deployed for an exterior sniff of the SUV. As a result, a probable cause search of the SUV was conducted.
During the search, the deputy located a trash bag and three totes that contained a controlled substance.
Further investigation determined the substance to be crystal
methamphetamine with a total weight of 200 pounds. The approximate street value is over $7.2 million.
Sergio D. Jaimezazueta, 44, of Stockton, California, was taken into custody without incident. Jamiezazueta was turned over to federal authorities for further court action.
