Clippers continue to improve marks

    The best weather conditions of the year so far led to the Malcolm track team recording multiple season best times, distances and heights at the Yutan Invite April 14.

    Head Coach Jack Tarr said the boys’ team improved in 20 different events while the girls’ team had 18 season bests at the Yutan meet.

    In the team races, the the Malcolm boys scored 75 points and finished second behind Fremont Bergan, while in the girls’ race Malcolm scored 93 points and finished behind Lincoln Lutheran and Conestoga.

    “The athletes came out and competed very well against some very good competition,” Tarr said. “These are the kind of meets that we as coaches like to attend because it makes our athletes work harder to get better.”

    Placing third or higher for the girls were: Andrianna Sims, first in the triple jump (34-6.5) and third in the 100-meter dash (13.37), 200-meter dash (28.55) and 400-meter relay;

    Amanda Engelbart, second in the 1,600-meter run (5:56.33) and 3,200-meter run (12:54.26);

    Alyssa Hoeft, second in the pole vault (8-0);

    Hayley Densberger, third in the high jump (4- 8);

    Courtney Sandell, third in the pole vault (8-0);

    Emily Locke, third in the 3,200-meter run (13:14.81); and third for both the 400-meter relay with Hoeft, Sims, Kylie DeBaets and Sandel (54.34), and the 3200-meter relay with Aubrey Wattier, Brealynn Wattier, Katelynn Holliday and Morgan Tetan, (11:29.78).

    Finishing third or better for the boys were Antonio Flores, first in high jump (6-3) and 110-meter hurdles (15.03), and second in long jump (19-3.5);

    Dustin Monroe, second in the pole vault (11-0);

    Dalton Engelbart, second in the 800-meter run (2:09.79);

    Jake Roberts, third in pole vault (10-6); and

    the 3,200-meter relay with Cade Larson, Engelbart, Matt Kallhoff and Jordan Redler, which finished second (8:53.13).

    The Malcolm track team was scheduled to compete April 21 at the Centennial Invitational in Utica.
