Richard William Rishel of Friend passed away May 8, 2017, from the effects of Alzheimer’s disease. Richard was born June 8, 1937, in Dover, Florida. As a young boy, he grew up in Millville, New Jersey, and graduated with the class of 1955 from Millville High School. He spent four years in the U.S. Air Force.

After completing his service, Richard worked for the water department and retired in 2002 from the State of Florida. He spent the next 12 years in Belize before returning to the United States.

Richard is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Lee De Bevoise of Friend; niece, Suzanne McIlvaine of Manchester, Massachusetts; two nephews, Greg and Jonathan Rishel, and a niece, Linda Rishel, all of New Jersey; great-nephews, Alex McIlvaine of Lincoln and Richard C. De Bevoise, and two great-great-nephews, Hunter and Jackson De Bevoise, all of South Seaville, New Jersey.

He was predeceased by his father, Ralph Rishel, when he was a child; his mother and stepfather who raised him, Doris (Henderson) and Jesse Stanley; a brother, Brian Rishel; and his nephew, Richard L. De Bevoise.

There will be no local services. However, a burial with service will be held at a later date in Greenwood Memorial Cemetery in Millville, New Jersey. Memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association of Nebraska, 1941 South 42nd Street, Suite 205, Omaha, NE 68105.
