Mark A. Porter was born on Sept. 5, 1957, in Lincoln, to John Clark and Geraldine Ruth (Ellison) Porter and passed away on June 16, 2014, at Bryan West as a result of a motorcycle accident. Mark grew up in Lincoln and attended Lincoln schools.

On Dec. 10, 1994, Mark married Lisa Ann Downer in Lincoln. Mark worked for Securatis at NPPD. He also worked as a mechanic for Super Wash and was co-owner with Lisa at Threads in Motion. Mark was an avid fisherman, he loved riding his motorcycle with his daughter and being with his family was his passion.

Survivors include his wife Lisa Porter of Seward, sons, Mark and wife Beth Porter of Wisner, Clark and wife Shay Porter of Goehner, and daughter M.E. Porter of Seward; and grandchildren Sydney and Leighton Porter of Wisner, and Rhiley Porter of Goehner. Other survivors are his father, John and wife Mary Porter, grandmother Ruth Ekstrom, sisters, Eileen and husband Ray Brown of Phoenix, Ariz., and Joyce Porter of Lincoln; and brother John Porter of Phoenix, Ariz.; step-brothers Todd and wife Wanda Stingley of Phoenix, Ariz., and Kirk and wife Pam Stingley of Lone Tree, Colo.; step-sister, Rebeccah Rezaei of St. Louis, Mo.; brother-in-law, Mark and wife Diane Downer of Gering; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. 

Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Geraldine Porter, and father-in-law, Howard Downer.

A Celebration of Life service was held June 20 at Hillcrest Evangelical Free Church in Seward with the Revs. Curt Coddington, Lowell Myers and Dan Jester officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the Porter family for later designation.
