During the Seward County Commissioners’ Nov. 14 meeting, the board:

• authorized the public transit director to apply for 5311 Vehicle Federal Transit Administration Funding.

Public Transit Director Jeff Baker said the county’s current vehicle has accumulated 100,000 miles in around four years. He also said it has fuel pump issues.

Baker added that the total cost of a new vehicle is $60,000, with the state and the county paying $6,000 each and $48,000 coming from federal funds.

He also said the new vehicle will have a wheelchair lift.

Board Chairperson Roger Glawatz said the old vehicle will be sold at auction.

• authorized the chairman to sign a grant through the Nebraska Crime Commission to pay a portion of the costs of laptops in cruisers.

Deputy Maverick Minzel said the laptops would allow law enforcement to give e-citations, rather than citations in paper form, and get those citations to the county attorney faster.

• authorized the chairman to sign a contract with High Plains Enterprises for the box culvert project on Sunrise Road.

Highway Superintendent Georgia Stockley said the shoo-fly intended to replace the Van Dorn Road detour should be in place by next month. Stockley also said repairs to Sunrise Road should be completed by June 15, 2018.
