This year’s annual Seward National Day of Prayer luncheon will feature Nebraska Lt. Gov. Mike Foley of Lincoln, who will be speaking on “The Power of Prayer!”

The luncheon, which will be Thursday, May 7, at noon at the Seward Civic Center, is held in conjunction with the annual National Day of Prayer, with events scheduled throughout the nation on the focus and importance of prayer.

Luncheon tickets in advance may be purchased at the Seward Chamber of Commerce, local banks and committee members.

The event will feature a luncheon prepared by the members of the GFWC Seward Woman’s Club and music by the Seward St. John Lutheran School Youth Choir, directed by Paul Soulek, St. John Lutheran Church music director, followed by the message on prayer by Foley.

The event is coordinated by the Seward Ministerial Association, assisted by the GFWC Seward Woman’s Club and the Seward Rotary. The Rev. Al Smith of the Seward Frieden’s United Church of Christ is event chair, assisted by the Rev. Andrew Ratcliffe of St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. Phil Bangert of the Seward Rotary Club serves as the event treasurer. Jean Kolterman of the GFWC Seward Woman’s Club is coordinating the arrangements and publicity.
