Two Seward clinics prepare to relocate

Seward Dental Clinic P.C. and Svoboda Chiropractic will soon move to a new home. The two practices will consolidate into one building currently being constructed at 306 S. Fourth Street in Seward.

“We have been thinking about an upgrade to our facilities for several years now,” Dr. Mark Minchow, DDS, of Seward Dental Clinic said.

The dental clinic operates as a partnership among Minchow, Matthew Kunasek, DDS, and Andrew Hibbert, DDS.

“The clinic at its current location was originally started by Dr. Robert Green around 1957 and has since seen several dentists through their entire career,” Minchow said.

The clinic is located at 111 N. Third Street in Seward and employs 12 people.

Moving to a larger building will give the dentists and their assistants more room to work and will create a more welcoming environment for patients.

“We considered remodeling at our current location, but we really needed more space and had no room to expand,” Minchow said. “None of the existing buildings currently for sale in town seemed to fit our needs, so we elected to go with new construction.”

The dental clinic will share ownership of the new facility with Dr. Shawn Svoboda, DC, of Svoboda Chiropractic.

Svoboda offers a wide variety of chiropractic services, from treating sports injuries to working with infants and the elderly.

Svoboda said he is excited for the new building to be finished.

“We have been in this office since August 2004. We’ve been renting for 11 years and we’re ready to move forward. We had a great opportunity here, so we’re going to take it and run with it,” Svoboda said.

A & J Donner Construction of Lincoln is the general contractor for the new building.

Minchow said construction should be complete by July, depending on the weather, but the dental clinic may wait to move into the new facility until after school starts in August, since back-to-school time is their busiest of the year and they will need to close for a short time to move equipment.

Svoboda said he plans to finish out July in his current office at 122 S. Fourth Street in Seward and be fully operational in the new office by Aug. 1. He does not plan to close for any length of time during the transition.

Svoboda is currently the chiropractic office’s only doctor, but he said he plans to hire another chiropractor once the move is complete.

“We’ll be able to see more clients then,” he said.

Svoboda also has a massage therapist on staff to provide relaxation and massage services.

Patients at the dental clinic will see some changes in available services.

“Our patients will enjoy a new facility with state-of-the-art technology, including CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) for crowns in one appointment, digital radiography, intraoral cameras and laser dental procedures to name a few,” Minchow said.

Rooms also will be more accessible for patients with physical disabilities.

“Dentists and staff will recognize a new modern sterilization area, more room for hygiene and operative procedures and a new digital panograph (x-ray machine), all of which should allow us to treat our patients in a more efficient manner,” Minchow said.
