Seward celebrates National Day of Prayer

The National Day of Prayer service at the Seward Civic Center May 7 featured guest speaker Nebraska Lt. Gov. Mike Foley. Foley talked about the need for prayer in a nation that is currently struggling and emphasized the spiritual dimension of the United States’ Founding Fathers. He talked about the spiritual aspect of the Jefferson Memorial, as well as Abraham Lincoln’s perseverance in life. The event was sponsored by the Seward Ministerial Association, GFWC Seward Woman’s Club and Seward Rotary. The meal was prepared by the GFWC Seward Woman’s Club. This was the 24th year of observance in Seward. Nationally, it was the 64th year of observance. The event included prayers for local, state and national leaders as well as communities worldwide.
