Tvrdy ends season

Seward sophomore Titus Tvrdy shot an 83-79 at the Class B state golf tournament May 20 and 21, but his 161 was not low enough to earn a medal.
Tvrdy's nine-hole scores were 39-43 on day one and 40-39 on day two.
He said he played well the first 13 holes on Tuesday but struggled on the final five.
"I put myself out of contention," he said May 21 as he and his group made the turn.
Coach Jim Placke said the tournament was a positive experience for Tvrdy, who broke 80 for the first time this season.
"That will give him a great deal of confidence," he said.
The Jays graduated Jared Hans, Josh Luff and Jake Weber but will return Tvrdy, Bryan Rodenbaugh and Court Croghan next season. John Wiemer should also return after missing the 2008 season with a shoulder injury.
"We have some nice kids coming back," Placke said.
