Harley riders stop in Utica

Jeff Hajny

Get your motor runnin', head out on the highway!
This past weekend, a group of nearly 2,000 bikers headed out on the highway, making a stop in Utica.
On May 17, members of the Frontier Harley-Davidson H.O.G. (Harley Owner Group) Chapter made their way through Seward County, stopping for a rally at The Bullet Hole in Utica as part of the 2008 Run for MDA (The Muscular Dystrophy Association).
The Run for MDA included stops in Utica, Rising City, Valparaiso and Lincoln. Proceeds from the event went to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
"We're using this as kind of a boost to travel around and just kind of boost the economy everywhere we go," Tina Seacrest of HOG said.
"It's not just Harleys, it's any vehicle. Anyone who wants to can participate."
Nearly 1,500 bikers were in attendance at the event in Utica and were treated to food and drinks from The Bullet Hole along with music in the outdoor commons area.
Employees of The Bullet Hole were pleased with the turnout of the event.
"This was awesome," Teri Hobson said. "You couldn't have asked for better weather and it goes to a good cause.
This was a great day for everyone to get together and enjoy one another."
"It went great. This has really been the first week the bikers have been able to get out," Chad Eikenhorst said. "It's a little overwhelming, but it's for a great cause. Utica's never done this before so it's a little new. A lot of preparation went into this but I think it worked out."
