Malcolm sets new pole vault record

School and conference records were broken at the East Central Nebraska Conference held at Malcolm on April 19. Ryan Meyer of Malcolm made a 13-1 in the pole vault, naming him conference champion with the two broken records, just missing a 13-4. "The temperature did not stop the competition," Coach Jack Tarr said. Anngela Dunbar also left conference champion jumping 4-10 in the high jump. The Malcolm boys ended fifth out of 10 teams and the girls ended sixth. Behind Meyer in the pole vault was Kyle Ridder in second at 12-0 and Tyler Guernsey in fifth at 9-6. Meyer also took sixth in the triple jump with 38-8.5 and Jess Meredith placed third in the long jump with 19-1. For running events, Dan Slepicka took fourth in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes at 11.6 and 23.8 respectively. Jacob Bolte took fifth in the 3,200-meter run at 11:08.5 and Gary Burruss took fourth in the 1,600-meter run at 5:07.4. The boy's 4x100-meter relay team placed second with a time of 47.5 and fourth in the 4x400-meter relay at 3:51.4. The girls took home two pole vault medals with Emily Lostroh in second at 8-6 and Morgan Densberger in sixth at 7-6. Melinda Deinert took home second in discus throw with a toss of 95-7 and Brittany Hinrichs left with fourth in shot put at 33-10.5. Breezy Dowd placed in both the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs finishing in fifth at 6:19.1 and fourth at 13:16.7 respectively. The girls' 4x100- and 4x400-meter relay teams took fifth at 56.1 and 4:41.3 respectively. Upcoming action The Clippers will compete at Filmore Central at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 1. This will be their last regular meet before districts.
