Malcolm competed at the April 8 Yutan track meet against 13 other teams, the girls taking home sixth place at 37 points and the boys at seventh with 49 points.
Coach Jack Tarr said Malcolm rarely sees many of the teams present at the meet, but with the new competition and the large number of teams, it was a different experience.
Though Tarr said they did not take home as many medals as they had hoped, both the boys' and girls' teams competed well with 18 new personal records for the boys and 20 for the girls.
"The competition was good and they had to stay warmed up for many prelim races, with some having five or six heats," Tarr said.
Anngela Dunbar, once again, scored at the top in the high jump taking first at 5-0. Maggie Spieker took fifth at 4-6.
Another first-place winner for the girls was Melinda Deinert in discus with a throw of 105-3.
For boys' discus, Dan Slepicka placed third with a throw of 133-7.
For girls' pole vaulting, Emily Lostroh placed second at 8-8 and Morgan Densberger placed fifth at 8-4.
Pole vaulters Ryan Meyer and Kyle Ridder were, again, at the top of the competition with Meyer in first with 12-6 and Ridder in second with 11-6.
Meyer also placed third in the triple jump with a jump of 40-0 while Jess Meredith placed third in the long jump with a jump of 19-8.
For running events, the boys'placed in two relays with second in the 4x100-meter at 47.3 and fifth in the 4x400-meter at 351.9.
Meredith placed fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.0 while Slepicka placed sixth with the same time.
Gary Burruss took sixth in the 1,600-meter in 5:15.3.
