The Seward County Independent has welcomed a new advertising representative-Carrie Johnson.
Johnson is originally from Sabetha, Kan., and is a 2002 graduate of the University of Kansas with a degree in illustration.
She has illustrated children's books and is currently working on one, she said.
Her husband, Jeremy, is originally from Spencer, Iowa, and works for Meyer Automotive.
They married in 2004 and trained quarter horses for two years. After winning reserve world champion, they stopped showing quarter horses competitively.
After living in Sioux Falls, S.D., for a year, they moved to Seward two years ago. Johnson worked at the Seward Family Medical Center in reception before accepting the position at the SCI.
"I wanted a challenge, and I like meeting people," Johnson said.
She said she likes living in Seward because it reminds her of her hometown. Her husband still competes in team roping as a header, and they own three dogs-a chocolate labrador and two cock-a-shons.
