Broncos open season inside

The Centennial Bronco track team saw a school record fall at the Doane Indoor meet in Crete on March 15.
"Many freshmen were able to compete for the their first time at the varsity level in Class B and probably now have a better understanding of the great competition we have in our area," Coach Rob Johansen said.
Jackie Ziemke finished first in the girls' shot put, breaking a school record with a throw of 39-1.
"It's real exciting to see someone start out the season bettering their personal best from last year at the first meet," Johansen said. "I'm sure that Jackie has already reset some of her goals for the season after performing that well."
Danielle Mooney also had a big day, placing third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:32.14.
"Danielle is a great competitor when it comes to track," Johansen said. "She understands what it takes to run in big meets and how to put herself in a position to score every time she runs."
Johansen saw this meet as a stepping-stone of sorts.
"It's difficult to have big expectations for your athletes going into the first meet of the year with much of the pre-season being cold," he said. "This was one meet where we could count on having good weather since it was indoors. With this in mind, our athletes were able to set some benchmarks for improvement throughout the season."
