Salute the weekend
Stephanie Croston
Weekends are funny creatures. You look forward to them all week, eagerly anticipating days where you don't have to go to work, and then the next thing you know, it's Monday. How does that happen? We have so many "relaxing" things to get done during those two days that the schedule fills up quickly. We're busy mowing the lawn, washing the car, scooping snow, doing laundry, cleaning the house-all those things that we don't have time for during the week. Then there are those weeks where everything gets done between Monday and Friday and you really can relax on Saturday and Sunday. I don't know about you, but those weekends are so few and far between that I want to put them in a jar and display them on a shelf somewhere. I can find many things to do during those weekends to occupy my time. There's always a book or two to read, cross stitching to do, movies to watch, naps to take, sometimes even a good game on TV that needs to be viewed. Sometimes after church on Sunday I take myself shopping. I have to be careful, though, because I like to spend money on things I don't need. But that's where the fun lies-buying things you don't really need and then trying to figure out later what to do with them. When I do go shopping, it's at places like Barnes and Noble-in my opinion the greatest store on the planet. Mr. Barnes and Mr. Noble have taken plenty of my hard-earned cash, but I don't mind giving it to them. I know I'm getting a good return on my investment because I can read and reread the books and listen to the music over and over again. So if you ever see me walking blissfully around Barnes and Noble, you'll know I'm having one of those rare weekends.
