Six Centennial Bronco wrestlers are headed to the state tournament.
On Feb. 8 and 9, the Broncos wrestled at St. Paul for the District C-3 wrestling meet. Overall, the Broncos placed fourth out of 16 teams, finishing with a team score of 112.5.
"Entering the competition we were setting at 11th place and the guys wrestled their tails off to qualify six individuals for the state meet and to finish fourth," Coach Dean Davis said.
The six Broncos who qualified for state were Breckin Coffey, who wrestled at 145 and finished first; John Bader, who wrestled at 103 pounds and finished second; Shaey Kratochvil at 119 who also finished second; Tom Bader, who wrestled at 135 and finished third; Bradford Hernandez at 160, who placed third; and David Egger, who placed fourth at 171.
"The state meet is always interesting," Davis said. "Every match is tough and you have to be aggressive in every match as officials call stalling a lot more than they do during the rest of the season. I like our matchups and have the feeling that our guys can do very well."
