Seward bowlers top districts


    The Seward High School boys and girls varsity bowling teams both took first place at the District B1 Division held in Columbus Jan. 26. Both advance to the state tournament on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 9 and 10, at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln.
     At districts, each team bowled four regular games, and the total of the four games was used to determine the champion. Other high school bowling teams competing in this B1 District Division were Plattsmouth, Blair and Elkhorn Mt. Michael.
     The total of the Seward boys' team games were 875, 888, 822 and 979 for a total of 3,564.
     The top 10 individuals in the district with high series scores will also compete for high series at the state tournament in Lincoln. The top six boys on the Seward varsity team had the following high series scores: J. T. Cattle 576, Cole Pearson 557, Mitch Bloebaum 549, Stan Benes 545, Brad Pohlmann 518 and Jared Pearson 488.
     The total of the Seward High girls' team's four regular games were 904, 860, 740 and 823 for a total of 3,327. This is the fifth straight year that the Seward girls' team has finished in first place at districts.
     The top five girls (who finished in the top 10 of the district) on the Seward varsity team had the following series scores: Micaella Radke 568, Reba Wilke 548, Felicia Benes 524, Amanda Hemsath 467 and Katelyn Schulz 428.
     These girls will also compete for high series at the state tournament in Lincoln.
