There is a new face at the Utica Health Clinic. This face belongs to Dr. Trisha Sams. Sams grew up in Atkinson. She began her undergraudate studies while attending Concordia University. She attended medical school and studied Resident Family Medicine at UNMC. "When I was studying at CU, I worked as a nurses assistant at the Sundermann Nursing Home. I saw that at the time some of the residents weren't being cared for at all," Sams said, "I figured I could do just as good as some of the doctors that worked there. That's why I've always loved working with the older crowd. I've been working with them since I started." Trisha spent two years working at the clinic in Henderson, and then spent three years in Boone County, Iowa. She then asked arecruiter in Lincoln about any open Nebraska jobs. After this, she received her job in Utica. "I wanted to get back to Nebraska. I knew the Utica community very well and looked forward to working there," Trisha said, "I am liking it very well. I am enjoying my time in the community and everyone there is very nice." Trisha's husband, Brian, received a job at Centennial High School teaching physics, chemistry and physical science. Along with this, he will be an assistant coach for the Centennial High football team. Trisha and Brian are both looking forward to their time in the area. "While I'm here, I want to provide quality medical care to Utica and all of its surrounding areas," Sams said, "I also want an area for my two children to grow up in. It's hard to believe that it was all because of the Seward community that I decided to enter the medical field."
