Max Wake, president of Jones National Bank and Trust Company, officially presented the first part of a $100,000 gift to Concordia University on June 22. The gift, to be completed over four years, is part of the "On a Mission" campaign in progress at the institution and will help fund the construction of the Health, Human Performance and Athletic Center.
"This is a significant gift that helps move us closer to beginning construction of the facility," said Brian Friedrich, president of the university. "It further demonstrates the support Jones Bank has historically given to Concordia, and we are very thankful."
The gift is in addition to past contributions from the bank to the university's endowment.
Wake commented on the "symbiotic" relationship the university has with the community and their support of each other.
"The Health, Human Performance and Athletic Center is a carefully planned project that benefits so many constituencies," Wake said. "We agree with the university that now is the time for a facility like this that is so broadly focused with improvements for athletics, academics and the community."
