The GFWC Seward Women's Club would like to express their appreciation to the staff at the Seward County Independent for the impressive advance coverage of our recent garden tour. It assisted us in raising important funds to invest in our children's literacy, as the profits of the event are donated to the Concordia University annual Plum Creek Children's Literacy Festival. Thank you for helping make this 10th annual garden walk a success.
We must also acknowledge and thank the seven families that took the time and effort to make their gardens, yards and outside living areas so beautiful for our event. Each home was unique and we want you to all know that your work to prepare for our showcase is appreciated by many. Thank you for being true volunteers.
The support of the Seward area businesses is also always special. Thanks to our local banks and their staff for taking time to sell our tickets at their facilities. Thanks to the merchants for donating the door prizes and to the Civic Center staff for the site for our reception.
Finally, I would like to personally thank the many GFWC Seward Women's Club members, family and friends that assisted me with this project. Our GFWC Seward Women's Club, for over 100 years, has served the community of Seward, and this event it another example of the great volunteers and wonderful individuals that are always willing to volunteer, in so many different ways.
If you are interested in being a garden stop on our tour next year, please contact me now, so we can make the 11th annual GFWC Garden Walk a success as well. The Concordia University Plum Creek Children's Literacy Festival is still accepting funds and support for the 2007 event this October. Contact Dr. Janell Uffelman or Vikki Gremel at (402) 643-7483 for more information or to donate to this very worthy and educational cause.
Thanks again, Seward.
Jean Kolterman,
GFWC Seward Women's Club president, Garden Walk chair
